The US$228 annual total is calculated from the advertised US$19/month billed annually. Pro is used because it includes advanced exports and unlimited AI Chat. Basic is cheaper: US$17/month or US$102/year, with a smaller credit allowance. Prices checked September 13, 2026; taxes and currency conversion excluded. Different plans include different features and allowances.

Plan and service figures from the sources below. Illustrative per-file totals are arithmetic examples, not measured customer savings.[1][8]

Find your language. Try your audio.

Happy Scribe’s live pricing page is internally inconsistent: its feature matrix lists 150+ AI transcription and subtitle languages, while a plan description says 60+ languages and dialects. We show both figures instead of quietly selecting the smaller one. Check the selector for your intended transcription language and service.[1]

Speechyou’s broader catalog contains 1,668 language/script configurations across 1,648 language codes. Human transcription, AI transcription and translation are different services with different language lists. If you need a person to proofread an uncommon language, check human-service availability and the quote separately; Speechyou’s catalog does not imply included human review.[10][11][8]

Browse all Speechyou languages

Find the right starting point

Speechyou offers Whisper and MultiLingual Pro. Check the catalog for your exact language and script, then test a recording.

These are Speechyou language examples, not a claim that Happy Scribe lacks all four. Language availability is not an accuracy guarantee.[10][11]

Bring your toughest recording.

Use the same audio in both tools. The names, numbers and speaker changes you need are a better test than a headline percentage.

  1. Bring a real recording

Start your free trial and upload a representative interview, lecture or video. Choose the correct language in both products.

  2. Check what matters

Listen to difficult passages. Check names, figures, quotations and speaker labels, then note the time needed to correct them.

  3. Try the next step

Ask for a summary and verify it. Export the file you actually need and open it in your usual software before deciding.

A fair test compares the actual products.

Happy Scribe offers an AI workflow and a separately priced human service. Compare Speechyou’s AI transcript against the AI option using the same recording. If your actual requirement is a human-reviewed deliverable, include that service and its turnaround in the decision; a lower AI subscription price is not a like-for-like replacement for professional proofreading.[8][6]

How to run a useful comparison

Keep the source file and language consistent. Record the model and processing mode where available. Compare important factual errors, speaker attribution, timestamps and time spent editing. If you calculate word error rate, use the same manually checked reference transcript. Keep translation, summarization and human proofreading separate from the raw transcription result.

Whisper research describes a model family and its limitations. It is not a score for either hosted product. We have not established a controlled head-to-head benchmark for this page.[13][11]

Your transcript is just the start.

Compare what happens after the words appear: finding a quote, asking a question, sharing a note, or delivering the right file.

Know which minutes you are buying

Happy Scribe separates meeting recording from uploaded-file AI credits. Pro’s unlimited meetings do not mean unlimited processing of an archive of interviews or videos. Speechyou’s unlimited notes may suit recurring file uploads, but confirm large-volume needs with the team; unlimited notes does not establish archive throughput.[2][9]

Explore file transcription

Choose subtitles that fit your editor

Speechyou includes SRT and VTT exports with detailed segmentation controls. Happy Scribe Pro adds a wider set of production formats and embedded subtitles in video. For a publishing workflow, test line breaks, timing, speaker changes and the final destination software before changing providers.[14][7][6]

Explore VTT subtitles

Bring your transcripts into AI

Speechyou includes Ask AI and an MCP connector. Happy Scribe also has AI Chat and an MCP server, including documented transcript search and creation from supported files or URLs. The useful comparison is what you can ask, which account data is retrieved, and how much the plan costs—not whether only one service connects to AI.[9][16][3]

Bring your bigger recordings

Speechyou Solo supports files up to 10 GB. Batch-upload recordings, organize them with tags and search, and keep the transcript alongside your notes. File size is separate from duration, storage and processing speed. Check the sourced competitor limits in the table before making a large-file decision.[9][14]

Build around your integration

Speechyou offers API access by request. Bring the team your languages, input sources, volume, output formats and latency requirements to scope the integration and commercial terms. API access is separate from Solo. The table distinguishes Happy Scribe’s developer offering from its web subscription.[12]

  • You upload recordings regularly and prefer an unlimited-note allowance.
  • Your language or script needs coverage beyond Happy Scribe’s confirmed selector.
  • Your deliverables fit Speechyou’s TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON outputs.

Consider Happy Scribe when…

  • You want optional human proofreading or human-made subtitles.
  • Your team will use the three seats included in Pro.
  • You need production exports such as FCPXML, STL or EDL.
  • Embedded video subtitles and collaborative subtitle editing are central to your work.

The details behind the table.

Billing models, usage rules and production requirements can matter more than a feature count.

Why compare Pro when Happy Scribe has a cheaper Basic plan?

Pro is relevant when you need unlimited AI Chat and the advanced export formats listed in this comparison. It is not the entry paid tier. Basic costs $17 monthly or $102 for an annual subscription, versus Solo at $15 or $67. That makes Solo’s annual difference $35 against Basic and $161 against Pro. If several collaborators will use Pro’s included seats, evaluate the whole team workflow rather than treating its total subscription as a per-seat charge.[1][2][9]

Can I upload a file larger than 1 GB?

The bulk-upload article specifies 25 files at a time, each no larger than 1 GB. An older Dropbox import article instead says uploads are not size-limited. Those statements describe different routes and were published at different times. We cannot turn them into one universal Happy Scribe file-size limit. Ask about your import method before moving a large project. Speechyou Solo supports up to 10 GB per file; this is a file-size allowance, not a promise of a particular completion time.[4][5][9]

What changes when you order a human service?

Happy Scribe’s human service is a separate purchase, quoted according to language, duration, service and requested options. It can be the better fit when the deliverable needs someone else to proofread it. Account for that order and its completion requirements separately from the AI subscription. Speechyou Solo is an AI workflow: you can review the transcript yourself, but this comparison does not promise a human reviewer, certified transcript or identical service guarantee.[8][9]

Your questions, answered.

How much could I save versus Happy Scribe?

For annual subscriptions, Solo is US$67, Happy Scribe Basic is US$102 and Pro is US$228. The differences are US$35 and US$161 respectively, before tax. Happy Scribe’s annual totals here are calculated from the published monthly equivalents; Pro also includes three seats and different features.[1][9]

Does Happy Scribe offer unlimited uploaded-file transcription?

Its reviewed plans give uploaded-file AI processing a specific minute allowance. The unlimited meeting-recording feature is separate. Pro lists 600 uploaded-file minutes on monthly billing or 7,200 on annual billing, with additional credits available.[2]

Does Happy Scribe already have MCP?

Yes. Its help center documents an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients, with transcript retrieval, search and supported transcription actions. Speechyou also has MCP. Compare the exposed tools and permission model for your actual AI client.[3][16]

Which service should I use for advanced subtitle exports?

Happy Scribe Pro is worth keeping if you need formats such as STL, FCPXML or EDL or embedded subtitles in an MP4. Speechyou offers SRT and VTT with segmentation controls. Test the required output in the software you will use to publish.[7][6][14]

Are Happy Scribe’s 150+ languages the same as human-service coverage?

No. The current pricing matrix’s AI coverage, the plan copy’s 60+ figure, and the human-service language list should not be combined. Verify the exact language and service at the source. Speechyou’s language/script catalog is also separate from any translation or proofreading claim.[1][8][11]

Is Speechyou more accurate than Happy Scribe?

We have not established that in a controlled product comparison. Use the same recording and language in both tools, check names, numbers and speaker changes against the audio, and measure correction time. Model research and vendor accuracy percentages are not a substitute for this test.[13][11]

What does 1,700 languages mean?

It is a rounded catalog figure. The application catalog reviewed contains 1,668 language/script configurations across 1,648 distinct language codes. Multiple scripts can belong to one language. This describes coverage, not equal accuracy in every language or a count of translation directions.[10][11]

Can I try my own recording for free?

Yes. Start your three-day free trial of Speechyou Solo, then upload your audio or video. Try the transcript, Ask AI and the exports you need. Your subscription renews at the selected price unless canceled; check your chosen billing period at signup.[9][14]

Can I use Speechyou on my phone and with my AI assistant?

Speechyou is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Its MCP connector lets compatible AI clients search and read your notes and transcripts. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients require their own supported connector setup; availability can depend on the client and its plan.[15][16]

Can I move all my Happy Scribe files to Speechyou?

Keep your original recordings and export any edited transcripts you need before leaving your existing service. Upload supported recordings to Speechyou within its plan limits. A one-click transfer of folders, edits, comments, permissions and speaker identities has not been verified. Test a few representative files before moving a library.[14][9]
